A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO STATE CAPITOL TOURS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 27, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part V to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§27-     State capitol tours program.  There is established within the office of the governor a state capitol tours program that shall include in-person and self-guided walking tours and virtual tours of the Hawaii state capitol building; provided that:

     (1)  Paper brochures and information about the virtual tour website shall be made available to the public in the office of the governor; and

     (2)  Administration of virtual tours of the capitol shall include regular maintenance and updating of a virtual tour website."

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2023-2024 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2024-2025 for:

     (1)  The establishment of two full-time equivalent (2.0 FTE) positions within the office of the governor to provide capitol tours pursuant to section 27-   , Hawaii Revised Statutes; provided that the qualifications for one of the positions shall be fluency in the Hawaiian language;

     (2)  The procurement, cleaning, operation, and maintenance of individual audio systems for self-guided tours; and

     (3)  The production of tour materials and signage available in English and non-English languages.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the office of the governor for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on June 30, 3000.
