A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the hawaii tourism authority.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to ensure that everyone arriving in Hawaii is informed of how to safely and responsibly enjoy their time on the islands by requiring the Hawaii tourism authority to create educational videos, educational audio recordings, and supplementary informative paper material to be shown and distributed on incoming commercial flights to the State.

     SECTION 2.  (a)  The Hawaii tourism authority shall create educational videos, educational audio recordings, and supplementary informative paper material to be shown and distributed on incoming commercial flights for everyone arriving in the State.  The educational videos, educational audio recordings, and supplementary informative paper material shall include information on:

     (1)  Preservation of natural resources;

     (2)  Ocean and outdoor safety;

     (3)  Native Hawaiian cultural mindfulness and importance; and

     (4)  Compliance with applicable state laws.

     (b)  The Hawaii tourism authority shall establish agreements with commercial airlines that travel to Hawaii to provide the educational videos, educational audio recordings, and supplementary informative paper material for publication and distribution on incoming flights to the State.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
