     Your Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred H.B. No. 525, H.D. 2, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO STATE PARKS,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to prohibit smoking, including the use of an electronic smoking device, and the use of tobacco products within the state park system.

 

     The Department of Health, Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii, Coalition for a Tobacco Free Hawaii, Hawaii COPD Coalition, The Outdoor Circle, Surfrider Foundation, University of Hawaii, and many concerned individuals testified in support of this measure.  One concerned individual testified in opposition.  The Department of Land and Natural Resources and a concerned individual provided comments.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 525, H.D. 2, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
