Status

RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE REVENUE BONDS FOR HAWAII PREPARATORY ACADEMY.

Extends the lapse date, from 6/30/12 to 6/30/17, of the special purpose revenue bonds that were authorized to assist Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Act 116, SLH 2007.

Status

RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF SPECIAL PURPOSE REVENUE BONDS FOR LE JARDIN ACADEMY.

Authorizes the issuance of special purpose revenue bonds for Le Jardin Academy for the construction, improvement, and equipping of its educational facilities.

Status

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Establishes a School Attendance Working Group within the Department of Education to address issues surrounding high absentee rates in K-12 schools.  Effective July 1, 2012.

RELATING TO THE HAWAIIAN LANGUAGE IMMERSION PROGRAM.

Requires the DOE to develop reading, math, and science assessment tests in the Hawaiian language for grades 3 and 4 students in the Hawaiian language immersion program.

Status

RELATING TO CONCUSSIONS.

Requires the DOE and the Hawaii High School Athletic Association to develop a concussion awareness program to provide guidelines for public and private schools.

Status

RELATING TO INSTRUCTIONAL TIME.

Requires the Department of Education to devise four bell schedules for each grade level to standardize instructional periods across all schools, with the exception of charter schools and multi-track public schools.  Requires each school to choose one of the available bell schedules for each grade level.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

WEB:      For comments less than 10MB in size, transmit from http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/submittestimony.aspx.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
