A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE STATEWIDE AUTOMATED VICTIM INFORMATION AND NOTIFICATION SYSTEM.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


SECTION 1. Chapter 353, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding to part VII a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"353-   Automated victim information and notification system coordinator. There is established a coordinator that will manage the operations of the automated victim information and notification system to ensure the provision of uninterrupted, prompt and accurate services to crime victims; manage the contract with the system provider; coordinate communications with state and national partner agencies; coordinate outreach and training on system operations and services to stakeholders; and staff the automated victim information and notification system governance committee. The permanent position shall be subject to chapter 76. The position shall report to the administrator of the reentry coordination office of the department of public safety."

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the automated victim information and notification system special fund, established by section 353-136, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the sum of $130,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2021-2022 and the same sum for fiscal year 2022-2023 for the hiring of a permanent 1.0 full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) automated victim information and notification system coordinator.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of public safety for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 4. This Act, upon its approval, shall take effect on July 1, 2021.
