A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to broadband access.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The Hawaii public housing authority shall conduct a study on the state of broadband access in all public housing projects in the State.  The study shall include but not be limited to:

     (1)  Costs that would be incurred to provide universal broadband access in all public housing projects in the State; and

     (2)  Any obstacles to providing universal broadband access in all public housing projects in the State.

     (b)  The Hawaii public housing authority shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2022.

     (c)  The Hawaii public housing authority may request the assistance of the legislative reference bureau in conducting certain research or drafting the report or recommended legislation, as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
