COM. REP. NO. 1114
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2021
RE: H.R. No. 7
Honorable Scott K. Saiki
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2021
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Education, to which was referred H.R. No. 7 entitled:
"HOUSE RESOLUTION URGING THE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO MANDATE THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO HOLD QUARTERLY TOWN HALLS TO RECEIVE CONCERNS AND SUGGESTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY,"
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee finds that there are few options for students to voice their opinions and concerns directly to the Superintendent of Education and administration of the Department of Education. Your Committee further finds that town halls are public meetings where officials can present their ideas and plans to the community and hear the community's views and feedback on those ideas and plans. Your Committee believes that town halls can serve as the appropriate avenue for students to discuss their opinions and concerns with the Department of Education administration.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Education that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.R. No. 7 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Education,
|
