"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO A JOB CORPS PROGRAM,"

     The purpose of this measure is to establish and appropriate funds for a State Job Corps Program within the Department of Labor and Industrial relations to help address unemployment impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, support economic diversification, and focus on resiliency and green sector jobs.

 

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Department of Research and Development of the County of Hawaii; one member of the Hawaii County Council; KuaĀina Ulu Auamo; Beach Environmental Awareness Campaign Hawaii; Hoomana Farms LLC; Beyond Organic Consulting, Inc.; Mindful Hawaii; Young Democrats of Hawaii; Kua O Ka La NCPCS; Chamber of Commerce Hawaii; Aina Momona; Kupu; HPM Building Supply; Hawaii Sustainable Farms LLC; Hawaii Fish Company; International Longshore & Warehouse Union Local 142; Vibrant Hawaii; and eighteen individuals.  Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations and Hawaii's Thousand Friends.


     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1176, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
