SENATE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

RELATING TO THE RECESS OF THE THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION OF 2020.

 

 


     WHEREAS, House Concurrent Resolution No. 1, Regular Session of 2020, provided designated recess days for the Regular Session of 2020 and was previously adopted by the House of Representatives and the Senate; and

 

     WHEREAS, in a matter of months the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has spread to almost one hundred fifty countries including the United States and consequently put the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Hawaii at risk; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has officially issued guidelines to restrict gatherings of fifty or more people for the next eight weeks to help control the spread of COVID-19; and

 

     WHEREAS, one recommendation of the CDC to diminish the risk of spreading COVID-19 is to encourage social distancing in an effort to minimize transmission of the infectious disease between people; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2020, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Regular Session of 2020 be recessed for at least three days, beginning March 17, 2020; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at the appropriate time the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives jointly declare through a signed memorandum the day and time to reconvene the Regular Session of 2020; and

 


     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor.
