RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.

Appropriates funds to the department of public safety to contract with the social science research institute of the University of Hawaii at Manoa for evidence-based research and to collect data on behalf of the department of public safety.

RELATING TO SELECTIVE SERVICE.

Requires compliance with the federal Military Selective Service Act to be eligible for enrollment in a state-supported post-secondary institution, qualify for state financial assistance for post-secondary education, or be eligible for state or county employment or service.  Provides exceptions.

RELATING TO VETERANS.

Requires the board of regents of the University of Hawaii to waive the nonresident tuition and fee differential for veterans of the United States Navy who served on an active ship or ship decommissioned after 2000 that is named after a person, place, or word associated with Hawaii.
