RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires the Department of Education to contract with a third-party consultant that specializes in school finance to study the adequacy of education funding in Hawaii.  Appropriates moneys for the study.

Status

RELATING TO TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS.

Adds definitions to the TAT Law.  Amends the definition of "transient accommodations" to include additional forms of transient accommodations.  Makes any person who fails to register with DOTAX subject to a citation process and monetary fines.  Requires hosting platforms that collect fees for booking services to register as collection agents on behalf of its operators and plan managers for the GET and TAT.

RELATING TO THE AGRIBUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.

Requires the Auditor to conduct a financial and management audit of the Agribusiness Development Corporation.  Appropriates funds.

Status

RELATING TO FLAVORED TOBACCO PRODUCTS.

Bans the sale of flavored tobacco products except for menthol or mentholated products.  Prohibits mislabeling of e-liquid products containing nicotine.  Establishes fines and penalties for violations.

Status

RELATING TO ELECTRONIC SMOKING PRODUCTS.

Establishes the offense of unlawful shipment of e-liquid products.  Includes e-liquid and electronic smoking devices in regulatory and taxation requirements applicable to tobacco products.  Increases tobacco wholesaler or dealer license fees and retail permit fees.  Allocates portions of tobacco tax revenues to the Hawaii Tobacco Prevention and Control Trust Fund and to support tobacco and cancer prevention research.  Repeals statutory provisions made obsolete.
