A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the hawaii labor heritage COUNCIL.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $180,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2020-2021 as a grant to the Hawaii labor heritage council to fund the production of a documentary film on the life of Ah Quon McElrath, recounting the major role she played in ending oppressive labor practices and documenting how one woman's compassion and determination lifted thousands of families out of poverty.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of labor and industrial relations for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2019.
