Requires certain health insurers and plans to provide coverage beginning 1/1/2019 for treatment of port-wine stains. (HB1705 HD1)

RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION MEDICAL BENEFITS.

Improves access for firefighters to comprehensive medical benefits under the Workers' Compensation Law upon diagnosis of cancer that is presumed to arise out of and in the course of employment. Requires private health care plans to pay for or provide medical care, services, and supplies to injured employees for controverted workers' compensation claims that are accepted or determined to be compensable. RELATING TO HEALTH.

Establishes positions and appropriates funds to assist in the review, certification, and recertification of dialysis centers and other health care facilities under the purview of DOH.

Prohibits the remote sale and shipment of cigarettes and tobacco products, including electronic smoking devices, to consumers except to licensed wholesalers or dealers. Imposes criminal liability for a violation. (HB1907 HD1)

RELATING TO HEALTH.

Includes quality assurance committees established by long-term care, skilled nursing, and assisted living facilities, home care agencies, and hospices, as well as authorized state agencies established by multiple providers in generally-applicable civil liability protections. (HB1922 HD1)

Status

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Amends various portions of the Hawaii Insurance Code under Hawaii Revised Statutes title 24 to update and improve existing Insurance Code provisions.
