A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to college placement examination fees.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $150,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2018-2019 for the payment of SAT or ACT standardized test examination fees for eligible students.

     (b)  For purposes of this section, "eligible student" means a public school student in the eleventh or twelfth grade who is eligible for the free and reduced price lunch program administered by the department of education's school food services branch.

     (c)  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this section.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2018.
