RELATING TO THE HAWAII RATEPAYER PROTECTION ACT.

Requires, on or before 1/1/2020, the public utilities commission to establish performance incentive and penalty mechanisms that directly tie electric utility revenues to the utility's achievement on performance metrics.

      Status & Testimony

RELATING TO PAYMENT OF RENT.

Requires landlords to disclose in writing the tenant's ability to establish a new due date for rent payment if the tenant receives public assistance.  Establishes a cap of five per cent on late rent payment fees.

RELATING TO TRAVEL AGENCIES.

Requires travel agencies that operate as sole proprietorships to file proof of professional liability and errors and omissions insurance as a condition of registration or renewal.

RELATING TO INSURANCE.

Exempts individuals selling only insurance for property stored at a self-service storage facility from obtaining a license as an insurance producer provided that specific requirements are met.

RELATING TO CHARTER TOUR OPERATORS.

Provides that charter tour operators may deposit sums subject to section 468L-23, HRS, in a trust account maintained in a federally insured financial institution serving as the depository bank for a public charter program subject to federal regulations.
