A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION TO THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  This Act is recommended by the governor for immediate passage in accordance with article VII, section 9, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.

     SECTION 2.  Without an emergency appropriation, the operations and functions of Maui memorial medical center, Kula hospital and clinic, and Lanai community hospital will be severely affected, thereby placing the health care of residents and visitors in jeopardy.

     The purpose of this Act is to make an emergency appropriation to provide funds to the Hawaii health systems corporation to enable the continued operations and functions of Maui memorial medical center, Kula hospital and clinic, and Lanai community hospital to serve the public health and safety needs of the community.

     SECTION 3.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2016-2017 for Maui memorial medical center, Kula hospital and clinic, and Lanai community hospital.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
