Status

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Establishes the Hawaii three to six out-of-school program for grades kindergarten through twelve. Authorizes the department of education to contract with private providers to furnish out-of-school programs for grades kindergarten through twelve, conducted during after-school hours, on weekends, and during inter-sessions on the premises of the private providers. Specifies the Hawaii three to six out-of-school program revolving fund is to be administered by the department of education. Makes appropriations.

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR PUBLIC MIDDLE AND INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL STUDENTS.

Appropriates funds for the establishment of after-school programs for public middle and intermediate school students.

Status

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Requires principals to consult with teachers and school community councils when expending moneys provided to their schools. Requires the weighted student formula to include a superintendent's reserve to address needs at unique and remote schools. Grants the DOE discretion in allocating superintendent's reserve funds to specific schools; provided that the committee on weights shall recommend the amount of the reserve and criteria for use of the reserve.

RELATING TO EDUCATION.

Amends laws affecting the public education system in Hawaii, including whole child education, special education, vocational education, facilities, weighted student formula, teacher recruitment and retention, standardized testing, early childhood education, evaluations, classroom supplies, class size, and funding.
