Expands the scope of background checks conducted by the Department of Health on operators, employees, applicants, and volunteers in health care facilities and other persons providing health care on behalf of the Department of Health to include criminal history record checks, sex offender registry record checks, adult abuse perpetrator and child abuse and neglect record checks, and certified nurse aide registry record checks. RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION. Provides that an independent medical examination and permanent impairment rating examination shall be conducted by a qualified physician selected by the mutual agreement of the parties. Provides a process for appointment in the event that there is no mutual agreement. (SB1174 HD1)

RELATING TO DIVORCE. Provides statutory authority for the employees' retirement system administrator to make direct payment to a former spouse of a member of benefits or portion thereof pursuant to valid court judgment, order, or decree.
