Expands the scope of the Department of Land and Natural Resources' Beach Restoration Plans to include beach conservation.  Allocates funds from the Transient Accommodations Tax to be used in accordance with the Hawaii Tourism Strategic Plan and for beach restoration and conservation.

RELATING TO RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY.

Exempts from the definition of "historic property" any private residence that has not been entered, or nominated by the owner of the residence for entry, onto the Hawaii Register of Historic Places.  Clarifies that nothing in Chapter 6E, HRS, shall be construed to require a review by the DLNR for any private residence exempted under the new "historic property" definition.

RELATING TO DISPOSITION OF TAX REVENUES.

Establishes maximum dollar amounts that shall be distributed among certain non-general funds from the conveyance tax.  Retains provision that the general fund receive the remainder after distribution.

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
