RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Establishes within the livestock revitalization program a grant program for qualified feed developers.  Appropriates funds.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO THE BIOSECURITY PROGRAM.

Establishes the Hawaii biosecurity program as a function of the whole department of agriculture.  (SD2)

Status

RELATING TO INVASIVE SPECIES.

Authorizes inspection and treatment of regulated goods moving between islands and intraisland, prohibits transportation of infested material between islands and intraisland, authorizes the department to designate quarantine areas to isolate infested areas, and authorizes a compliance agreement program to ensure that qualifying agricultural businesses in quarantine areas may transport their commodities with minimal risk of pest or disease spread.  Effective 01/07/2059.  (SD2)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.

 

 

If during the course of the hearing it appears that there will not be sufficient time to allow everyone to be heard, the chairperson reserves the right to limit testifiers to two minutes.  This two minute policy will be enforced to ensure fairness and adequate consideration of all measures.
