Status

RELATING TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING CREDITS.

Extends to June 30 2018, the time period in which affordable housing credits are required to be issued for each single-family residence, multi-family unit, other residential unit, or if allowed under the county's affordable housing programs, vacant lot, developed by the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands.  Effective July 1, 2014.

Status

RELATING TO FISHING.

Prohibits commercial fishing within one mile of the shoreline of the island of Niihau.

RELATING TO DESIGNATION OF A COMMUNITY-BASED SUBSISTENCE FISHING AREA.

Establishes the Niihau community‑based subsistence fishing area to restrict fishing in the waters off Niihau.

Status

RELATING TO OPIHI.

Requires the DLNR to adopt rules to regulate the taking or harvesting of opihi from the coastal areas or nearshore waters of the island of Niihau by nonresidents of the island.  Prohibits the taking or harvesting of opihi until the DLNR adopts rules.  Establishes penalties.  Requires DLNR to submit annual reports.

Status

RELATING TO OPIHI.

Establishes a moratorium on the harvesting of opihi on Oahu until July 1, 2019.  Establishes a ban on taking or harvesting opihi statewide, subject to open and closed seasons and traditional rights.

Status

RELATING TO MARINE LIFE CONSERVATION DISTRICT.

Prohibits the taking or possessing of aquatic life or fish feeding in marine waters within two miles of the shoreline of an island with a population between one hundred and five hundred individuals, with certain exceptions.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·     The date and time of the hearing; and

·     Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
