     Your Committee on Education, to which was referred H.B. No. 2257 entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SUPERINTENDENT'S SALARY,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to provide the Board of Education with more flexibility to establish the salary of the Superintendent of Education to attract and retain exemplary individuals to support a strong statewide public education system by increasing the salary cap on the Superintendent's position from $150,000 to $250,000 a year.

 

     The Board of Education and Kaneohe Ranch supported this measure.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Education that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2257 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to the Committee on Labor & Public Employment.
