HOUSE CONCURRENT

RESOLUTION

 

 

requesting the hawaii health systems corporation to itemize medical bills for patients and to adopt and implement a uniform grievance procedure for the resolution of complaints relating to medical bills.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, medical bills sent to patients of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation are not itemized; and

 

     WHEREAS, the medical bills are prepared by an independent contractor of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation; and

 

     WHEREAS, the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation accordingly disavows responsibility over the contents of medical bills, because the Corporation does not prepare them; and

 

     WHEREAS, patients are at a loss as to how to resolve grievances with the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation over issues relating to their medical bills; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-seventh Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2014, the Senate concurring, that the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation is requested to require their medical billing contractor to itemize medical bills prepared for patients and to adopt and implement a uniform grievance procedure for the resolution of complaints relating to medical bills; and

 

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Chairperson and members of the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
