A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to Cardiopulmonary RESUSCITATION training.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§302A‑    Salaried teachers and teacher trainees in public schools; cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and certification.  The board shall develop procedures for a cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and annual certification program that shall be required for all teachers and teacher trainees in all public schools.

     A teacher or teacher trainee who refuses to participate in the cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and certification program established pursuant to this section shall be discharged for such refusal.

     This section shall not apply to volunteers or other non-remunerated personnel providing support services at individual schools."

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $         or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 for the department of education to conduct cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and certification for public school teachers.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.
