A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Act 317, Session Laws of Hawaii 2012, is amended by amending section 4 to read as follows:

     "SECTION 4.  [There is appropriated out of the safe routes to school program special fund the sum of $250,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2012-2013 for the safe routes to school program.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of transportation for the purposes of this Act.The fees deposited for each fiscal year into the safe routes to school special fund, when appropriated, shall be available to the department of transportation to administer the safe routes to school program including, without limitation, the cost of equipment and general administrative overhead.  When appropriated, funds may also be delegated by the director of transportation to the respective counties to expend for the purposes of this Act."
     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.

Description:

Stipulates that fees deposited for each fiscal year into the Safe Routes to School Special Fund, when appropriated, shall be available to the Department of Transportation to administer the Safe Routes to School Program and that funds, when appropriated, may also be delegated by the Director of Transportation to the respective counties to expend for the purposes of the Act that established the Safe Routes to School Program.  Effective July 1, 2013.  (HB591 HD1)
