A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HOUSING.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $1,500,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2014-2015 for the state rent supplement program, for working individuals or families who are ready to rent permanent housing to obtain and maintain permanent housing; provided that no individual or family who receives public assistance or other government benefits or entitlements shall qualify to receive moneys appropriated under this Act.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii public housing authority for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.

Description:

Appropriates funds for the state rent supplement program for working individuals or families who are ready to rent permanent housing in order to obtain and maintain permanent housing.  Excludes individuals or families who receive public assistance or other government benefits or entitlements from qualifying to receive moneys under this Act.  Effective July 1, 2013.  (HB518 HD1)
