A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FOURTEENTH REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The following sums, or so much thereof as shall be sufficient to finance the projects listed in this Act, are hereby appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii for fiscal year 2014-2015.

     1.   To be expended by the department of land and natural resources:

     A.   Waiakaea (Lihi) canal boat ramp and parking lot improvements and Waiakaea canal drainage project, Kauai

Plans, design, construction, and equipment for reconstruction and renovation of trailer and vehicle parking lot, boat wash down area, and pavilion to mitigate pedestrian, vehicle, and boat traffic congestion; to dredge canal to reduce erosion of canal banks and improve drainage for safe launching of boats; and to remove old navigational aids and implement new navigational aids that incorporate new maritime technology.

B.   Land acquisition purchase of allotments I and II (Carol Wilcox property), Kauai land acquisition purchase for Hanalei boat ramp.

Total funding                          $2,000,000

     2.   To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Kapaa high school, Kauai

          Plans, design, construction, and equipment for improvements and renovations to Career Pathway classrooms and adjoining facilities including automotive, building and construction, graphic communication, digital media, health service, and culinary arts facilities to provide a learning environment that aligns with current industry standards and practices.

     SECTION 2.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.  SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2014.
