A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to public accommodations.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 489-3, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "§489-3  Discriminatory practices prohibition.  Unfair discriminatory practices that deny, or attempt to deny, a person the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, and accommodations of a place of public accommodation on the basis of race, sex, including gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, color, religion, ancestry, [or] disability, homelessness (as "homeless" is defined under section 346-361), the receipt of any form of federal or state public assistance, or the receipt of benefits under chapter 383 are prohibited."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
