RELATING TO DOMESTIC ABUSE ORDERS.

Requires a police officer to order a person to have no contact with a family or household member for a twenty-four hour period, or longer if the incident occurs on the weekend, when a police officer has reasonable grounds to believe that there is probable danger of further physical abuse or harm to the family or household member. (SD1)

RELATING TO ACCUSED TO TRANSPORT WITNESS OR WITNESSES.

Allows family courts to require the accused to transport certain witnesses to any family court proceeding under certain conditions. Effective 07/01/50. (SD2)

RELATING TO CHILD ABUSE.

Provides greater protection for children by amending the offense of promoting child abuse in the second degree to include possession of thirty or more images of child pornography and the content of at least one image contains a minor younger than the age of twelve, sadomasochistic abuse of a minor, or bestiality involving a minor. Effective 07/01/50. (SD1)

RELATING TO SEXUAL IMAGES PRODUCED BY MINORS.

Prohibits adults from soliciting minors to electronically transmit nude images of minors; prohibits minors from electronically transmitting nude images of themselves or other minors, or soliciting other minors to do so; prohibits persons from possessing a nude image transmitted by a minor, but makes it an affirmative defense that the recipient made reasonable efforts to destroy the transmitted nude image. Effective 07/01/50. (SD2)

RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES.

Appropriates funds to the department of human services to match federal funds allocated to the State for medicaid benefits dedicated to adult vision services. (SD1)

RELATING TO UNIVERSAL CHILDREN'S SAVINGS ACCOUNTS.

Creates a universal children's savings account program under the department of budget and finance. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD2)

RELATING TO CONTRACT PROPOSALS FOR CHILD CARE.

Allows the department of human services to accept contract proposals from organizations that are not yet licensed to operate a child care program at locations specified by the department. (SD2)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

     The Committee the comments are directed to;

     The date and time of the hearing;

     Measure number; and

     The number of copies the Committee is requesting.

WEB: For comments less than 4MB in size, transmit from the Web page at http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/submittestimony.aspx.

 

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns. This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
