Appropriates funds from the agriculture development and food security special fund to fund plant quarantine inspectors and support staff.

Expands the definition of "agricultural land" to include properties under or equal to four acres that are used primarily for farming operations that produce an annual taxable revenue in excess of $100,000.

Status

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Creates agricultural safety and security program.  Designates sections 141-1 through 141-10 as part I, General Provisions.  Allows certification services revolving fund moneys to fund the agricultural safety and security program.

Status

RELATING TO AGRICULTURE.

Strengthens existing law to require proof of identification from sellers of agricultural commodities.  Makes the failure to maintain required certificates while in possession of agricultural commodities prima facie evidence of the offense of theft in the second degree.  Effective July 1, 2012.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
