A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO STUDENT ACTIVITY FUNDS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 302A-1305, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "[[]§302A-1305[]]  Inactive student activity accounts.  Student activity funds that are left in the [school for a period of five years] school's nonappropriated local school fund account after the graduation of the class to which the funds belong shall be [deposited into the nonappropriated local school fund account unless the graduating class donates, in writing, the funds to the school within the five-year period.] made available for use by the school for general school needs."

     SECTION 2.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

Description:

Allows public schools to claim student activity funds left in the school by a graduating class immediately after the graduation of the class, rather than five years after the class graduates or upon donation by the graduating class as provided under current law.  (HB2106 HD1)
