RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLE EXPRESS WARRANTY ENFORCEMENT.

Amends Hawaii's lemon law to include motorcycles in the definition of "motor vehicles".  (SD1)

RELATING TO EMPLOYMENT SECURITY.

Excludes non-violent offenders from repeat offenders statute requiring mandatory minimum prison terms.

RELATING TO CIVIL DEFENSE.

Supports State Civil Defense's Shelter-in-Place initiative by exempting civil liability for care homes and schools, in addition to hotels, during an officially designated emergency.  (SD2)

Status

PROPOSING AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE VII, SECTIONS 12 AND 13, OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF HAWAII RELATING TO TAX INCREMENT BONDS.

Proposes amendments to the Constitution of the State of Hawaii to expressly provide that the legislature may authorize the counties to issue tax increment bonds.

RELATING TO LIMITING CIVIL LIABILITY.

Limits the civil liability of property owners for damages to persons injured on premises while committing certain criminal offenses.  (SB532 HD1)

Status

RELATING TO USE OF FORCE.

Expands the exemption from the duty to retreat from the home and workplace to any place where the actor may lawfully be present.  Effective July 1, 2050.  (SB350 HD1)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

·     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·     The Committee the comments are directed to;

·     The date and time of the hearing;

·     Measure number; and

·     The number of copies the Committee is requesting. 

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns.  This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
