RELATING TO TAXATION.

Places a cap on itemized deductions claimed on state income tax returns and increases the state standard deduction.

Generally adopts the overall limitation for tax deductions under the Internal Revenue Code.

Conforms state tax exemptions to federal phaseout provisions under section 151(d)(3) of the IRC.

RELATING TO INCOME TAXES.

Conforms state income tax brackets to federal income tax brackets and provides corresponding new tax rates.

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Exempts the state income tax for individuals who earn less than $40,000 per year and increases the income tax for individuals who earn $750,000 or more. Drops dead 12/31/15.

RELATING TO INCOME TAX.

Exempts individuals from income tax if they earn less than 100 percent of the current Federal Poverty Income Guideline for Hawaii.

Status

RELATING TO LOW-INCOME REFUNDABLE TAX CREDIT.

Changes the eligibility for the low-income refundable food and excise tax credit by requiring taxpayers to be eligible for state public assistance and repeals the tax credit on 12/31/2015.

Status

RELATING TO TAXATION.

Omnibus tax bill to provide tax equity and stimulate the economy by increasing general excise tax rates, reducing income tax rates, and establishing hotel construction and remodeling tax credit.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing with a transmittal cover indicating:

     Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

     The Committee the comments are directed to;

     The date and time of the hearing;

     Measure number; and

     The number of copies the Committee is requesting.

 

While every effort will be made to copy, organize, and collate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed to the incorrect office, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the Legislative Web site after the hearing adjourns. This public posting of testimony on the Web site should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
