Madam:

 

     Your Committee on Transportation and International Affairs, to which was referred S.C.R. No. 51 entitled:

 

"SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION URGING THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO SUPPORT THE KOREA-UNITED STATES FREE TRADE AGREEMENT,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to urge the United States Congress to support the Korea-United States Free Trade Agreement.

 

     Testimony in support of this measure was received from the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea.

 

     Your Committee is supportive of this measure, and believes that its passage may be instrumental in gaining the approval of the United States Congress for this important trade agreement.

 

     Your Committee has amended this measure by:

 

     (1)  Correcting all references to "South Korea", to reference the official title of the "Republic of Korea";

 

     (2)  Clarifying that the waiver program is the visa waiver program; and

 

     (3)  Adding the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea to the list of those receiving a certified copy of the measure.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Transportation and International Affairs that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.C.R. No. 51, as amended herein, and recommends its adoption in the form attached hereto as S.C.R. No. 51, S.D. 1.
