STAND. COM. REP. NO. 3563

Honolulu, Hawaii

RE:    GOV. MSG. NO. 318

Honorable Colleen Hanabusa

President of the Senate

Twenty-Fourth State Legislature

Regular Session of 2008

State of Hawaii

Madam:

Your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 318, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:

Board of Pharmacy

G.M. No. 318

PATRICK LEE ADAMS,

for a term to expire 6-30-2012,

begs leave to report as follows:

Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by the nominee, and finds Patrick Lee Adams to have the necessary qualifications to be nominated to the Board of Pharmacy.

Testimony in support of Mr. Adams' nomination was submitted by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

Mr. Adams received a degree in Business from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana.  He is currently the Director of Pharmacy at Foodland grocery stores where he is responsible for overseeing four Foodland pharmacies and pharmacy development.

Mr. Adams has been licensed pharmacist in Hawaii since 2002.  His commitment to the Board of Pharmacy is evidenced by his attendance to Board meetings as a member of the public prior to his initial appointment in May 2007 to become familiar with local and national issues that the Board addresses.  He has participated in task forces that relate to the practice of pharmacy.  As a member of the Board, his participation during meeting discussions is meaningful, and the Board has often called upon him to assess an issue, articulate the finer points, make recommendations, and testify on behalf of the Board in front of the Legislature.  Mr. Adams' demonstrated commitment, motivation, education, and professional experiences will greatly assist the Board of Pharmacy.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, and Affordable Housing,
