HOUSE RESOLUTION

 

 

HONORING SEAL DELIVERY VEHICLE TEAM ONE AND SEAL-NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE FOUNDATION-HAWAII AND ITS FOUNDING BOARD MEMBERS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS, ACCOMPLISHMENTS, AND SERVICE TO OUR STATE AND NATION.

 

 

 


     WHEREAS, in times of war and uncertainty, there is a special breed of warrior ready to answer our nation's call, standing alongside America's finest Special Operation Forces to serve our country and protect the American way of life; and

 

     WHEREAS, this special breed of warrior is the United States Navy SEAL, whose loyalty to our country is beyond reproach and who humbly serves as a guardian to fellow Americans, is always ready to defend those who are unable to defend themselves, and who voluntarily accepts the inherent hazards of the profession and places the welfare and security of others before self; and

 

     WHEREAS, a SEAL serves with honor on and off the battlefield, having the ability to control emotions and actions regardless of circumstances with uncompromising integrity; and

 

     WHEREAS, physically and mentally stronger than any adversary they may face, a SEAL never quits and perseveres and thrives on adversity; and

 

     WHEREAS, a SEAL trains for war and fights to win, standing ready to bring the full spectrum of combat to bear to achieve the goals of our country; and

 

     WHEREAS, execution of a SEAL's duties are swift and violent when required, yet guided by the principle that a SEAL serves to defend; and


     WHEREAS, brave men have fought and died building the proud tradition that every SEAL is bound to uphold, and in the worst conditions, this legacy steadies a SEAL's resolve and silently guides every action; and

 

     WHEREAS, SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii was established in 2007 as a nonprofit charitable foundation to take care of the widows and children of U.S. Navy SEALs killed in action or in training, to assist wounded SEALs where special needs cannot be met through government agencies or programs, and to provide needed support to the families of active-duty SEALs who are away from home, serving their country for extended periods of time; and

 

     WHEREAS, SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii is dedicated to honoring all who have served in the special operation services and to perpetuating their heritage, values, and tradition; and

 

     WHEREAS, SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii is dedicated to providing scholarship programs, computers to the children of Naval Special Warfare warriors killed in combat or training, donations to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to fund the college education of children whose Special Operations Forces fathers were killed in combat or training, tuition assistance to active duty Naval Special Warfare personnel to defray the costs of books and supplies, and scholarship programs; and

 

     WHEREAS, SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii supports families of SEALs killed in the War on Terror, covering lodging expenses, airfare, and memorial receptions, and offering financial planning to widows of SEALs and Special Warfare Combatant-Craft Crewmen whose husbands were killed in combat or training; and

 

     WHEREAS, SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii assists active duty commands with expenses connected with the death of an NSW operator that is not combat- or training-related; and


     WHEREAS, the founding board members of the SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii are acknowledged for their outstanding contributions and steadfast support of U.S. Navy SEALs and their families: Ron Seiple, Brian Barbata, Dennis Gaughan, Bob Rieve, and Chad Buck; now, therefore,

 

     BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2008, that this body hereby commends the leadership and crew of SEAL DELIVERY VEHICLE TEAM ONE and SEAL-Naval Special Warfare Foundation-Hawaii for their outstanding contributions, unparalleled accomplishments, and steadfast service to the people of Hawaii and our great nation, and extends its warmest aloha and best wishes for continued success in all future endeavors.
