A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 78-1.6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:

     "[[]§78-1.6[]]  Office hours.  Offices of the State and counties shall be open for the transaction of public business as determined by the chief executive[.]; provided that classes at the University of Hawaii at Manoa shall commence no earlier than 9:00 a.m., Monday to Friday, inclusive.  Offices need not be open for the transaction of public business on the state holidays designated under section 8-1 and as observed under section 8-2."

     SECTION 2.  The legislature determines that this Act constitutes a matter of statewide concern pursuant to article X, section 6, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.

     SECTION 3.  Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
