HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
urging the united states government to identify and facilitate the return of any ceded lands not being used to the state of hawaii.
WHEREAS, following a United States Department of Defense base realignment and closing review, Barbers Point Naval Air Station was closed on July 1, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the United States Navy conveyed approximately 2,150 acres of former base property to various agencies of the State and City and County of Honolulu; and
WHEREAS, there may be other lands in the State that are controlled by agencies of the federal government that are or could have been classified as ceded lands; and
WHEREAS, some of these lands may not be in use by various agencies of the federal government and may be deemed surplus lands; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Twenty-fourth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2007, the Senate concurring, that the United States General Service Administration and the United States Department of Defense are requested to identify and facilitate the return to the State of any ceded lands presently under the control of and not being used by any federal agency; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Administrator of the
United States General Services Administration, the Secretary of Defense, and the members of Hawaii's congressional delegation.
