A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to THE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Section 367-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsections (a) and (b) to read as follows:

"(a) There is created a temporary state commission on the status of women for a special purpose within the [office of the lieutenant governor] department of human services for administrative purposes.

(b) The commission shall consist of thirteen members, which shall include:

(1) Ex officio nonvoting members: the superintendent of education, the president of the University of Hawaii, the director of labor and industrial relations, the director of human resources development, the director of human services, and the director of health, or their respective designated representative; and

(2) The remaining seven members shall be appointed by the governor in accordance with section 26-34[, and] from a list of twenty prospective appointees recommended by the women's legislative caucus. The seven members shall serve as voting members.

SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2010.
