A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to renewable energy.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 196, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§196- Renewable energy technology standards for newly constructed state facilities. All design which is initiated on or after January 1, 2004, for construction of a state building or substantial renovation of a state building when major energy systems are involved or any building which the State or state agency considers for acquisition or lease after January 1, 2004, shall meet applicable provisions of the state building minimum renewable energy technology standards established pursuant to section 196-4."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
