A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for emergency medical services.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the area between Kaneohe and Kahuku on Oahu needs additional emergency medical resources to address the high rate of motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and other trauma.

The purpose of this Act is to provide funding for an emergency vehicle, staffing, equipment, and supplies for an emergency ambulance unit for the Kaaawa and Kahaluu service areas.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $879,660, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003-2004, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for an emergency vehicle, staffing, equipment, and supplies for an emergency ambulance unit for the Kaaawa and Kahaluu service areas.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of health for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2003.
