A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to teachers.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§302A-   Teachers; employment term. The employment term of each full-time teacher in department schools shall be not less than eleven months annually, provided that:

(1) No less than one of those months is dedicated to not less than twenty days of professional development; and

(2) This section shall not affect any collective bargaining agreements in effect at the time of the effective date of this section."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
