A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for the pouhala marsh ecosystem RESTORATION and community development project.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $800,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the Pouhala Marsh ecosystem restoration and community development project that includes cleaning the area of accumulated garbage, restoring habitat for native Hawaiian water birds, migratory shorebirds, and waterfowl, and developing an education program to teach people about the natural, cultural, and historical features of the area. The program will include securing the area to prevent unauthorized vehicular access and grubbing and removal of man-made debris and garbage present on the site.

SECTION 2. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
