A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for the thirteenth senatorial district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2004-2005 for the purpose of the following capital improvements in the thirteenth senatorial district:

1. Pauoa elementary school

New playground equipment $40,000

2. Kawananakoa middle school

Repairs to auditorium's plumbing

     and roof $4,000,000

3. Kauluwela elementary school

New covered walkway from building

     E to main classroom $20,000

4. Kalihi Kai elementary school

Re-roofing building B $10,000

5. Lanakila elementary school

Re-tile bathroom and installing security screens $40,000

6. Ma'ema'e elementary school

New covered playcourt with rain

     barrier

Library expansion project

7. Nu'uanu elementary school

Re-roofing classroom buildings B,      D, E, and I to maintain a      safe and healthy environment,

At $36,000/building $144,000

Re-roofing JC walkways to      maintain a safe and healthy      environment $30,000

8. Liliha library

Re-carpeting using carpet squares $25,000

9. Pu'uhale elementary school

Paving Kanakanui Road $80,000

Re-paving main parking lot $66,000

New covered playcourt $900,000

Upgrading to first floor lights $200,000

Replacing schoolwide carpeting $300,000

Installing classroom wall dividers $200,000

Repaint interior walls/hallways $5,000

Repaint classroom interiors $60,000

New covered walkways between main      building and cafeteria, at      $75,000/walkway $150,000

Tetherball base bedding/concrete      supports $10,000

SECTION 2. The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2006, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
