A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

making an appropriation for the fourth senatorial district.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $14,685,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the following capital improvements in the fourth senatorial district:

1. Maui Community College

A. Renovations to the student center building.

Total funding $13,036,000

B. Inspect and repair fire alarm system.

Total funding $649,000

2. Maui Arts and Cultural Center

A. Support for Maui Arts and Cultural Center's capital campaign.

Total funding $1,000,000

SECTION 2. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1, item 1 shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1, item 2 shall be expended by the county of Maui for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. The appropriations made for capital improvement projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30, 2006 shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 5. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
