A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to molokai irrigation system.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the Molokai irrigation system needs immediate capital improvements to efficiently manage the current water resources. The legislature also finds that the existing description of this project focuses on long-term water source development and does not address the immediate needs of improving the Molokai irrigation system. While long-term planning is important to the future water needs, immediate improvements are necessary to sustain and maximize the existing water resources within the Molokai irrigation system.

The purpose of this Act is to amend an existing appropriation of capital improvement funds to provide for the design, equipment, and construction for the improvements to the Molokai irrigation system.

SECTION 2. Act 200, Session Laws of Hawaii 2003, part IV, section 77, item A.3., is amended to read as follows:

"3. MOLOKAI IRRIGATION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS, MOLOKAI

[PLANS FOR THE IDENTIFICATION OF NEW SOURCES FOR THE MOLOKAI IRRIGATION SYSTEM, IMPROVEMENTS TO ADDRESS LONG-TERM NEEDS, AND EXPANSION.
