A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE HAWAII HEALTH SYSTEMS CORPORATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. This Act is recommended by the governor for immediate passage in accordance with section 9 of article VII of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.

SECTION 2. This emergency appropriation of $14,000,000 in general funds is necessary to ensure that the Hawaii health systems corporation can repay the State for funds advanced to the corporation to pay for employer contributions to the employees' retirement system and the Hawaii employer-union health benefits trust fund.

SECTION 3. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $14,000,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2003-2004, to be used by the Hawaii health systems corporation to repay the State for funds advanced to the corporation to pay for the corporation's employer contributions to the employees' retirement system and to the Hawaii employer-union health benefits trust fund.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the Hawaii health systems corporation for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
