A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE FOURTEENTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $1,760,000, or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for fiscal year 2004-2005 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the fourteenth senatorial district, as follows:

1. Aiea Intermediate School

Plan, design, and construct

school wide electrical upgrade to

accommodate school needs $650,000

Plan, design, and construct

3 portable classroom buildings

at $90,000 per portable to

provide appropriate learning

facilities $270,000

Plan, design, and construct

overhang for

bus stop area $100,000

Resurface and re-stripe

PE courts to

address safety concerns $350,000

2. Red Hill Elementary School

Plan, design, and install

air conditioning in library to

alleviate health concerns $150,000

Design and construct

air conditioning for

administration $165,000

3. Kapalama Elementary School

Resurface and re-stripe

basket ball courts to

address safety concerns $ 75,000

SECTION 2. The appropriations made for capital improvement projects authorized in this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all appropriations which are unencumbered as of June 30, 2006, shall lapse as of that date.

SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of accounting and general services for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
