A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

RELATING TO the university of hawaii.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The legislature finds that the University of Hawaii student caucus is the body charged with representing the over fifty thousand students within the University of Hawaii system. It is comprised of elected students from each campus and its respective student governments. The University of Hawaii student caucus collectively advocates for students on a system-wide level to provide meaningful student insight and input in all decision-making matters relating to the University of Hawaii.

The purpose of this Act is to provide funding to ensure that the University of Hawaii student caucus is able to meet and discuss issues.

SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ , or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2004-2005, for the University of Hawaii student caucus to hold meetings with its member campuses and constituents.

SECTION 3. The sum appropriated shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2004.
