A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

relating to compost.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 201, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§201- Remediation of marginal soils. The director shall coordinate state efforts to demonstrate the value of compost for remediation of depleted soils and promote the value of compost to potential end-users. The director shall form an advisory committee to assist in the formulation of recommendations concerning the development of opportunities for remediation of marginal soils."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
